AMR fleet management: AI as a driver of efficiency
Intelligent software solution KUKA.AMR for central management and monitoring of a heterogeneous AMR fleet in real time. Benefit from AI-based process planning and process optimization as well as simple start-up in a single package – with no need for programming. Seamless integration into existing customer systems guaranteed.
AMR fleet management made easy
The AI-based fleet management software KUKA.AMR enables the mapping of numerous industrial scenarios in which complex production environments with dynamic obstacles, persons, door openings and elevators are skillfully mastered. The entire AMR fleet is controlled autonomously, with obstacles avoided and routes replanned in real time according to traffic in order to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
Regardless of the robot manufacturer and vehicle type, the traffic and job management of all autonomous mobile robots can be carried out in a single environment. Simple drag-and-drop configuration of logistics processes enables fast start-up of the AMRs.
Efficient control and coordination in warehouses and production shops
Quick and easy start-up thanks to no-code programming
KUKA.AMR: optimized material flow, maximum safety, automated operational control
Fleet management software independent of vehicle manufacturer: In addition to the autonomous mobile robots from KUKA, the KUKA.AMR software also controls third-party vehicles that can be integrated via the VDA-5050 interface.
Discover the complete fleet management software for your AMR fleet
With KUKA.AMR Fleet, you can network and orchestrate your mobile robots highly efficiently. KUKA.AMR Studio is used as a user-friendly interface for job planning and start-up. The combination of the two software packages gives you maximum flexibility and scalability.
The configuration and provision of the mobile robot fleet as well as the organization of all jobs and maintenance work are carried out using the start-up tool KUKA.AMR Studio. Thanks to the intuitive drag-and-drop functionality and a comprehensive function library, it is particularly easy to use – with no programming required for configuration. AMR routes can be intuitively replanned or modified in a map of the production environment. Live graph updates also enable adaptations during ongoing production.
Creating, managing, editing and uploading transport routes
With the graphics editor, maps of the AMR environment can be created very easily. Paths and nodes are entered directly.
The Quick Add function allows the easy creation of nodes at equal intervals.
Task planning and task management in the user-defined dashboard
Tasks and processes are created and configured in the dashboard by means of simple drag-and-drop.
A function library offers standard processes that can be easily saved.
Events can be configured at the planned node points.
The nodes are monitored in the editor.
The process status is displayed for each task.
Error messages and proposed solutions are immediately visible.
Quick adaptation to new tasks is possible.
Control and configuration of mobile robots and peripheral equipment
The AMRs are configured without code in the start-up tool.
Sensor calibration can also be carried out.
Parameters can be compared and restored.
In addition to the AMRs, the peripheral equipment (electric gates, robot arms, conveyors, elevators, lifting devices, etc.) is also integrated, configured and monitored.
The software enables access to peripheral device signals and facilitates possible troubleshooting.
High-precision AMR navigation
Multimodal fusion navigation supports SLAM, QR codes and other location systems, and features lane detection, lane keeping and deviation warning signals.
Navigation and positioning accuracy with millimeter precision is ensured, among other things, by means of a floor surface condition and position sensing system.
The autonomous path planning and obstacle circumvention, for example, ensure that operation is also stable in dynamically changing environments.
Area management for different area types
With KUKA.AMR Fleet, numerous logistical processes can be implemented simply and in a single package:
Warehouse strategies
FIFO self-management
Compact warehousing
Zone control
Full integration into existing customer systems
Thanks to a standard API platform, the KUKA.AMR Fleet Manager can be seamlessly integrated into existing IT and automation systems. With the VDA-5050 interface, it is possible to integrate a heterogeneous fleet of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), including AMRs from KUKA and vehicles from other manufacturers, as well as conventional automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and conventional industrial trucks. Furthermore, this interface also allows easy connection to PLC controllers of industrial machinery, fire alarm systems, building systems and peripheral equipment, ensuring efficient management of the entire fleet. SECS/GEM interfaces enable full AMR interoperability in semiconductor, photovoltaic and electronics production.
Moreover, KUKA.AMR Fleet can be smoothly integrated into the surrounding WMS and ERP/MES systems. Fleet management is the digital upgrade that paves the way to the smart factory.
Workflow management thanks to artificial intelligence
The fleet management software optimizes the use of AMRs by intelligently distributing transport jobs, thereby minimizing costs. Using advanced AI algorithms, the software analyzes current transport jobs, positions, and charge levels in real time. The goal is to minimize the number of AMRs required and to increase operational efficiency. This reduces procurement and operating costs, making the solution more attractive to customers.
Job allocation and job management
The fleet management system evaluates the state of all available vehicles with regard to battery charge levels, AMR type, speed and position, and allocates active tasks to them.
The dashboard also provides an overview of all jobs in progress. This makes error tracking easy.
Process choreography and process monitoring
In order to keep the production and logistics routes and processes really efficient, the fleet manager choreographs the individual vehicles in such a way that they do not block or hinder each other. For all tasks, only the minimum required number of vehicles is activated.
The web interface of KUKA.AMR Fleet provides a real-time overview of the routes and processes created. Malfunctions of the AMRs and connected devices are diagnosed and solutions are proposed.
Safe obstacle avoidance in real environments
The AI-based fleet manager KUKA.AMR Fleet offers a function whereby the AMRs can react to all obstacles in real time. Based on the data from the vehicle software, it dynamically adapts the routes of the robots in order to avoid collisions. In the event of conversions or maintenance work on production systems, the corresponding areas can simply be disabled in the fleet management map. The AMRs then automatically search for alternative routes.
