KUKA.ConveyorTech

KUKA.ConveyorTech organizes the cooperation of robots and conveyors. The software automatically adapts the actions of the robot to the motion of an assembly line or conveyor belt. In this way, the robot can work on parts on a fast-moving conveyor or move them from one conveyor to another.

Software for easy programming of conveyor applications: Functions of KUKA.ConveyorTech

The KUKA.ConveyorTech technology package enables fast commissioning and simple programming of conveyor applications. The software makes it possible to work parallel to the progress of the conveyor system. Conveyor systems can be one-dimensional (e.g. belt conveyors) or six-dimensional (e.g. AGVs).

KUKA.ConveyorTech also offers the option of multiple tracking. Up to five conveyors can be monitored without difficulty, and linear and circular conveyors can also be monitored in mixed operation. In addition, up to 1024 components per conveyor can be managed in memory.

KUKA.ConveyorTech and KR AGILUS in cooperation

The KR AGILUS and KUKA.ConveyorTech enable automated pickup of parts from a moving belt.

Advantages of the KUKA.ConveyorTech software

Shorter cycle times

The KUKA.ConveyorTech software synchronizes the robot to the conveyor movement in the background. This means that no stopping of the conveyor belt is necessary during the production process. The new motion command DLIN (DynamicLIN) makes it possible to optimize the speed of the robot for linear motion.

Synchronization “on the fly”

When changing from non-synchronized to a synchronized program part, the software independently calculates the movement in order to be synchronized relative to the conveyor belt. Since the conveyor runs continuously, the entire production process is thus more flexible. Robot and conveyor can be stopped synchronously in case of a stop request (e.g. emergency stop).

Greater flexibility

The KUKA.ConveyorTech technology impresses with its high precision and can therefore also be used flexibly in assembly processes. External axes (linear units) can be coupled to the conveyor progress (EO driver), allowing the robot to work parallel to the conveyor for longer. The option "External conveyor" offers the possibility to transfer position and workpiece information from a linear conveyor or even AGVs (6D) via a PLC.
