Thousands of visitors took part in the festivities as they strolled through the pedestrian mall in the heart of Munich. KUKA had a spectacular presentation in front of the university to showcase its products “made in Bavaria”.
The KUKA Robocoaster was the ultimate highlight. It is the world's only “passenger robot” and it incorporates HD video, 3D motion and realistic sounds to create lifelike experiences such as Alpine skiing in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the “Kandahar” track, flying over the Zugspitze and riding a roller coaster. The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs held a contest to win tickets to ride the Robocoaster, and scores of visitors tried their luck at winning a ride. Swarms of thrill-seekers surrounded the host of the contest. Anne Berger and Carina Kapoor got to test the Robocoaster and were thrilled: “We rode a virtual roller coaster. It was so real that we felt sick to our stomachs.” KUKA staff were at the stand to answer the many questions about the products and the company.
After Bavarian Minister President Horst Seehofer had raffled the first winning ticket for a co-passenger at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs' stand, Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs Martin Zeil did not want to miss taking a thrilling ride in the Robocoaster. Together with Peter Mohnen, CFO of KUKA AG, he decided to take a flight over the Zugspitze.
The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs used the slogan “Aufbruch Bayern” (“Bavaria on the move”) to present four different themes: Bavaria as a center for innovation, Bavaria as an economic powerhouse, tourism and energy conversion. As an industry expert, KUKA presented both the Robocoaster and the energy-saving KR QUANTEC robot that can be used in a wide variety of practical applications.
