KUKA at MEDICA
Robots are becoming increasingly important for the medical sector. At MEDICA, KUKA – a leading technology supplier for medical equipment manufacturers – is showcasing new application examples. The basis of the applications is the sensitive LBR Med lightweight robot.

Visitors to MEDICA 2018 in Düsseldorf will be able to experience the LBR Med, the first robotic component worldwide to have been certified with a CB Report for integration into a medical product, in various live applications. From 12 to 15 November 2018, at Booth B44 in Hall 10, KUKA is showcasing various application examples, some of which have been developed in close cooperation with customers from research and industry.
For instance, the CARLO® system from Swiss start-up company AOT AG is intended to radically improve the results of bone surgery using the LBR Med. The goal of the EU-funded research project MURAB is improved breast cancer diagnostics using a robot-controlled ultrasound scanner. In addition to these two specific solutions, KUKA is showcasing further potential medical applications for the LBR Med at MEDICA – such as use of the robot in spinal surgery.
