Artificial intelligence to touch: AI Day at KUKA

KUKA focuses on three dimensions when it comes to artificial intelligence: AI in research, AI in products and solutions and AI in the day-to-day work of KUKA employees worldwide. At the "AI Day" at the KUKA headquarters in Augsburg, the focus was on the employees. They had the opportunity to find out about current AI use cases and projects at KUKA and received tips for integrating artificial intelligence into their day-to-day work.

Artificial intelligence has been the talk of the town ever since the AI chatbot ChatGPT was made available to the public free of charge. However, KUKA has been involved in machine learning research for several years now. For our customers, we are working on the question of how and where we can use AI sensibly in our products and solutions. However, artificial intelligence should not only influence our products, but also the way in which AI enriches the future of work.

An insight into current projects:

Testing artificial intelligence live at the AI Infomobile

In addition to current AI projects, which KUKA employees informed their colleagues about at info points and with live demonstrations, the AI Infomobile was also part of the AI Day. The project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), is being carried out by Fraunhofer IAO and the Institute of Human Factors and Technology Management IAT at the University of Stuttgart.

The project team was on site with interactive AI demonstrations to provide information about the areas of application and limitations of AI in the workplace. Their aim is to sensitise people to the topic of artificial intelligence, reduce reservations and provide an introduction to the use of AI in everyday working life.

I think it's important to make AI something that employees can touch and experience. We want to empower employees to shape AI in a participatory way and at the same time encourage them to integrate AI into their day-to-day work with their own ideas.

AI Day as a platform for open dialogue

A day dedicated entirely to AI helps to drive forward your own AI strategy, utilise global opportunities and discuss boundaries:

It is clear that AI is already having a major impact on society, industry and our daily lives. But it is very important to understand how we can utilise AI and get the most out of it.
