KUKA at laser world of photonics in Munich

KUKA is presenting its laser machining expertise at the Laser World of Photonics in Munich

11 June 2015

The Laser World of Photonics in Munich is the flagship global trade fair for components, systems and applications in the field of optical technologies. KUKA is presenting its laser machining competence there at Booth 206, in Hall A3, from 22 to 25 June. From laser welding to hybrid and remote welding and even laser cutting, trade fair visitors can inform themselves about a wide range of technologies. “At KUKA, we have combined the technologies of Reis with the expertise of the Technology Solutions department at KUKA Systems. Our customers are benefiting from the resulting synergies,” says Alwin Berninger, Spokesman of the Board of Management of KUKA.

KUKA flexiblecell laser: Pre-assembled and ready to use

With the KUKA flexibleCELL laser, its newly developed modular laser cell, KUKA offers an automation solution for the increasing demands of modern manufacturing. The laser cell is a userfriendly Plug&Play solution that enables a range of automation scenarios and is adapted in accordance with specific customer requirements. The important factor here is flexibility. “In order to adapt the laser cell perfectly to the production volume and specific manufacturing requirements of our customers, we have thought everything through to the smallest detail – as exemplified by our versatile and modular standard packages with custom-tailored automation options,” says Berninger.

Individual Solutions: The right optics for every task

From individual components to cells or systems – KUKA offers every customer the right solution for the efficient execution of com-plex welding or cutting processes. This includes the appropriate optical technologies. “Our product range includes welding optics, deposition optics, cutting optics and special optics,” explains Berninger. “These machining optics enable us to combine outstanding functionality with suitability for operation in the harshest of operating conditions – without compromising on their compact and automation-optimized design.”

At the trade fair, KUKA will be presenting their solutions for laser welding and laser deposition welding. In addition to mirror optics for welding with maximum laser power and without focus shift, motorized zoom optics with a powder nozzle will also be on display. A further exhibit will be the MWO-Industrie welding optics – modular processing optics specially designed for laser welding in an industrial setting.

Each optical technology has its advantages: for example, the mirror optics dispense with lenses thanks to the high-brightness beam sources, enabling a fast and stable process – even with thicker materials. It is also designed for operation in laser hybrid welding. For generative machining processes, the ideal solution is the powder zoom optics with integrated coaxial powder feed nozzle. A motor-adjustable focusing diameter allows variable widths while maintaining a constant tool center point (TCP) of the laser beam. If a particularly compact and robust solution is required, that is where the MWO-Industrie comes in. Thanks to the modular design, individual functions can be optimally combined.

All optics referred to here are compatible with various handling systems – including robots, gantry systems and special kinematic systems.

We look forward to seeing you at Booth 206 in Hall A3.
