A premium German carmaker awarded the order to furnish equipment for a Chinese manufacturing facility to technology leader KUKA Systems' local representative in the country. The order is valued in the lower double-digit millions Range (EUR). The project comprises a total of nine lines, which will be used to build car body subassemblies such as front and rear doors, fenders, engine hoods and tailgates. Also included in the order are an assembly and finishing line.
"Expanding our market share in China is still one of our key priorities. With orders like these, we can continue to successfully implement our strategy and achieve our target objectives," says Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of KUKA AG. KUKA Systems GmbH in Augsburg will help the local subsidiary in China with the project management, design, assembly and startup for the plant. The automated system includes 105 KUKA KR Quantec industrial robots, which will perform tasks such as spot welding, clinching, folding, gluing and subassembly handling.
