Flexible Automation for Cleanroom Environments

The FABMOVER by BEC Robotics is an advanced Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) designed for automated handling of wafer pods and cassettes in semiconductor cleanroom environments. Built on KUKA’s KMR iisy platform, it combines mobility with collaborative robotics for safe, precise operation in tight fab layouts. The system supports autonomous pod opening/closing with onboard or stationary modules and features up to eight buffer slots for efficient material flow. Its modular, scalable design reduces manual handling, minimizes contamination risk, and adapts to evolving production needs in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.

Automated Pallet Inspection

KUKA will showcase its palletizing capabilities using a KR QUANTEC to simulate wooden pallet manufacturing and refurbishment. This high-payload robot, available in 3,100 mm and 3,065 mm configurations, supports 210 kg and features digital motion modes for optimized accuracy or speed. In the demo, the robot will pick up and scan pallets to assess their condition before replacement, using IVISYS' PALLETAI inspection system. AI-powered analysis will determine pass or fail status in real time, with data transferred to the IVISYS cloud for immediate insights.

Robotic Palletizing and Automated Transport

KUKA’s second palletizing demonstration will feature the Modular Palletizing System, designed by System Partner ABCO Automation. The MPS cell showcases a highly adaptable palletizing system equipped with a KR IONTEC robot and KMP 600P mobile platform for autonomous material handling. The system utilizes KUKA.PalletTech palletizing software, providing a versatile and user-friendly solution for configuring and executing palletizing tasks across various packaging types, packing patterns, and stations. 

Seamless Digitalization Boosts Automation Efficiency

At Automate 2025, KUKA will showcase its new digital segment, KUKA Digital, established to drive industrial digitalization through comprehensive software solutions. This initiative aims to fully digitize production processes, from 3D simulations to data analytics and artificial intelligence applications. In collaboration with Dassault Systèmes, KUKA has recently integrated the 3DEXPERIENCE platform into its mosaixx digital ecosystem, enhancing customer access to virtual twin technology and fostering more efficient, adaptable manufacturing operations. At Automate, visitors can experience KUKA Digital at an interactive kiosk.

Lights-Out Manufacturing

At IMTS 2024, KUKA showcased a fully-automated machine shop demonstration. The cell includes a 3D bin picking robot that picks and sorts blank parts. A KMP 1500P autonomous mobile robot (AMR) automates the transport of blank parts to a machine tool, where a second robot loads and unloads the machining operation. A second KMP 1500P AMR transports the finished parts from the machine tool. See the new version of this lights-out production floor at Automate 2025!
