Efficiency and competitiveness on the agenda - meet KUKA Nordic at Logistics & Transport

Considered the leading Nordic trade fair for logistics and transport solutions, Logistics and Transport at the Swedish Exhibition Centre (14-15 November). KUKA Nordic will be there in its own stand, showing the latest versions of its AMRs. ‘We will also give examples of how robots can increase the competitiveness of an SME company,’ says Micael Amandusson, channel manager at KUKA Nordic AB.

Making factory environments more efficient

Today, dark factories have become part of the industrial and logistics landscape. These are manufacturing sites where the level of automation is so high that no lighting is needed. For most manufacturing companies, this is still something of a utopia, says Micael Amandusson. That said, it is usually possible to streamline a lot even in classic factory environments - without completely replacing humans.

AMR - Automated Mobile Robots

As a rule, there is a lot of logistics in industrial manufacturing, which many people handle with the help of classic forklifts. According to Micael Amandusson, there are major gains to be made in environments of this kind if a number of the human-operated forklifts are replaced by self-driving robots of the AMR type. - ‘If you make a purely economic calculation, where you take into account the maximum working hours for a human plus sickness rates and other factors that limit our ability, then you will recoup the investment in robots in a few years.

Service, spare parts and energy consumption?

- That's included,’ says Micael Amandusson. In most industrial environments, however, it is not possible to completely replace the human forklift operator. Some tasks are simply still too difficult for a machine to handle, and human creativity and empathy are still required.
It is also a good way for small and medium-sized enterprises to increase their competitiveness. However, according to Amandusson, some smaller companies are reluctant to take the plunge because they lack the expertise in advanced robot programming in-house.
- ‘But it's not required in the same way anymore. ‘These days, our software is so simple and user-friendly that anyone with a basic understanding of technology can handle it,’ he says. For those who want to know more, Micael Amandusson and his colleagues at KUKA Nordic will be at stand C04:60 at Logistics and Transport.
Meet KUKA at Logistics and Transport 14-15 November at the Swedish Fair in Gothenburg. You will find KUKA Nordic in stand C04:60

- Welcome to the stand and ask questions about automation of your production. We are interested in problem solving and are happy to help, says Micael Amanusson, Channel Manager KUKA Nordic AB
