Tier1 in focus - KUKA Nordic strengthens its automotive team

The automotive industry is in the midst of its transition to electrification, a move that is taking place in parallel with a strong increase in automation. To meet the demand, KUKA Nordic is now strengthening its automotive staff with one person. - "My focus will be on Tier 1 suppliers," says Gustav Caesar, who started his new job in January.

Passion for automation

For Gustav Caesar, automotive is a familiar field. - "Basically, I am a civil engineer specialising in mechanical engineering, and I have previously been a consultant for several of the well-known OEMs," he says. For the last 14 years, however, he has had a completely different role, as head of department at the consulting company Alten. There, his work involved selling consultancy services and coaching employees. But now he is looking forward to working more hands-on in the field. Among other things, he is passionate about introducing automation in a broader way in the Swedish supplier industry.

– "Many have some understanding, others are more getiing started, but have weaks points in their production flow which lowers the overall efficieny. This is where new equipment would make a big difference. In general, it can also be seen that Swedish companies do not take AI as seriously as in Germany and the US, for example, where we need to improve in order to remain competitive," he says.
Now he is looking forward to - in his new role as Area Sales Manager Tier1 - getting out to KUKA's customers among the automotive industry's subcontractors and talking more about automation and what the company can do. - In addition to our robots and software being at the absolute cutting edge, KUKA has a USP with everything surrounding the equipment itself. They have invested in having customer service, counselling, service personnel and access to spare parts that are in the same top class as the robots. These are things that make a difference," says Gustav Caesar.

KUKA, production of electric vehicles

KUKA also has a strength in having been involved from the start in the production of electric cars. - The company is good at capitalising on that experience.
For Peter Ljungberg, head of KUKA Nordic's automotive staff, the reinforcement is welcome. - "The market share in the Nordic region has increased significantly in recent years and there is a lot to work with. "Gustav Caesar has exactly the right skills and personality to help us manage the fantastic momentum we have right now," he says.
