The KUKA Innovation Award, launched in 2014, is entering its seventh round and will in 2020 be dominated by medical robotics: Researchers and young talents from all over the world can submit their innovative robotics ideas for diagnosis, surgery, therapy and rehabilitation until January 2020. The concepts must be implementable with a sensitive lightweight robot KUKA LBR Med, optionally expanded with a Roboception 3D vision system.
Robotics are increasingly making their way into the healthcare sector. This offers doctors and nurses, but also patients, countless new opportunities.
An international jury evaluates the applications and selects the best concepts. The finalists receive the necessary hardware and software free of charge for the duration of the competition and have almost a year to implement their ideas. KUKA experts offer robot trainings and coach the selected teams to the finals at the MEDICA medical trade fair in Düsseldorf in November 2020, where the best solutions will be presented to thousands of experts - and the winner of the Innovation Award 2020 will be chosen. Medica 2019, where this year's final teams will present their solutions for the "Healthy Living Challenge" already offers a foretaste of the competition.
