KUKA Systems wins automotive order in the United States

The steady stream of orders received from the automotive sector is giving a boost to KUKA Systems, a division of Augsburg-based KUKA Aktiengesellschaft and a global player in the systems business

January 9, 2012

The Augsburg systems and automation specialist received an order from a German premium car company to install new production systems at the automaker's factory in the southeastern United States of America and to upgrade existing assembly lines without shutting down the plant. The project is valued in the mid-double-digit million euro range and was booked in the fourth quarter of 2011. The order includes the design, construction and startup of framing lines, which will be used to produce car bodies for various SUV models. KUKA Systems Corp. North America, an American subsidiary of KUKA based in Sterling Heights, Michigan, will provide site supervision for the project starting in April 2012. The job is expected to be completed by mid-2014.

"The decision to award the order to our company was based on the long-standing, excellent working relationship with our customer, as well as the project management and process systems expertise of KUKA Systems and its employees," emphasized Dr. Till Reuter, KUKA Aktiengesellschaft's CEO.
