International robotics community meets in Philadelphia: KUKA at ICRA 2022
The IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) is one of the leading conferences in the field of robotics and automation worldwide. KUKA showed a robot application in medical technology.
More than 4,700 researchers and company representatives from 97 countries met in Philadelphia this year to exchange research results and ideas in the field of robotics and automation. Among them were KUKA employees, such as software developer Giuseppe Monetti: “ICRA is always something special. It’s a platform for experts from the entire community. The exchange is great, you get a lot of impulses. It’s also very valuable for us in the preliminary phase of product development.” This is why KUKA has been a sponsor at ICRA for many years.
At ICRA 2022, KUKA and partners demonstrated how the LBR Med can be used in brain tumor biopsy. In the application, a tumor biopsy is simulated on a model with real-time tracking. The application is an example of what can be achieved in medicine thanks to robotic application.
“Robotics in Healthcare” is also the topic of the KUKA Innovation Award 2022, which is looking for concepts that focus on direct interaction with patients for diagnosis, rehabilitation, surgery and other forms of therapy.
