KUKA wins with Swisslog contracts for two AutoStore projects in Switzerland
Swisslog, a member of the KUKA Group, strengthens its position as the leading integrator in the AutoStore field. In addition to an order from Winterhalter + Fenner AG, a leading Swiss electrical goods wholesaler, the company has also secured its next contract from Competec Logistik AG, a group of companies from Switzerland specializing in trade and logistics. The order value for both projects amounts to around 10 million euro and was booked in the third quarter of 2018.

The order from Winterhalter + Fenner, a member of the Sonepar-Suisse Group and a global leader in B2B electrical goods wholesale, concerns the planning and implementation of an AutoStore system in Wallisellen near Zürich. This new project is another step towards networked logistics. The system will be able to accommodate around 55,000 containers. Additionally, 70 autonomous robots will position the stock items optimally as part of a continuous, software-controlled stock transfer process.
The Swiss-based Competec Group has also tasked Swisslog with the installation of the fully automated AutoStore storage and picking system. The facility will be built in Willisau near Lucerne. It will be the third time that Swisslog has carried out an AutoStore project for Competec.
“We are proud that we have managed to secure over 130 AutoStore orders from 19 different countries and are looking forward to carrying out other exciting automation projects based on this scalable solution,” explains Dr. Christian Baur, CEO Swisslog Logistics Automation.
“We are delighted to have secured these new orders from our longstanding customers,” emphasizes Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of KUKA AG. “Our ability to secure more than 20 new AutoStore projects in the first six months of the year alone is further proof of our expertise in this field.”
